Tips by Symantec with regards to Internet Security for year 2015

What I can summarize from this article - http://www.thestar.com.my/News/Nation/2014/12/28/Cyber-landscape-of-2015-From-targeted-attacks-to-ransomware-security-firm-Symantec-Malaysia-predicts):

1. Don't be the "weak link" in your organization.. (can you understand what this means? or you need me to elaborate?) :D

2. PASSWORD - i think it has been repeatedly mentioned everywhere - protect your password.. protect your ATM pin code .. blah blah blah.. but people still find it hard to use different password for different transaction.. i know it's hard to remember many password .. so here the tips:

You can use a single password for all your transaction.. but make it different by keywords. for example, I love nasik lemak .. so I  use this password for:

i) Yahoo -   N2sikL3makYah00
ii) Gmail -  Gm4ilN2sikL3mak
iii) Office - N2sik0pisL3mak

spot the similarity? oh yer, this is only example.. although I do love nasik lemak, but I don't use this example in my real passwords list .. :D

3. Don't share your location, friends list or photos with public!!! if you're not a target, you might feel that it is safe to share to other people.. but you never know when you will be a target ... remember the "Kiki" case? once she's a target, people know everything about her, fullname, where she work, where she lived..etc... so be cautious.. you don't want people to know who you are once you're a target...

but ... people might know a lot about me because of my work.. so I pray hard to Allah to keep me safe from all the embarrassment in the world..

4. Be careful when taking pictures... don't take any photos with your phone / mobile device that you will regret if it ever become available to public with or without your consent..

5. Be careful with the cloud .. understand its risks .. aware of its vulnerabilities .. remember the naked American actress case??

Other tips which not mentioned in the article:

6. Always lock you PC when you're not at your desk..

7. Always log out from any account when you're using public computer (actually this habit is good even with your own computer  .. try NOT to login to any banking websites when using public computer / public wifi .. if you really need to do the transaction from public computer, make sure you log out & clear its cache.. and be alert for any unnormal email / sms from the bank after the transaction ..

I think that's enough for today .. I'll write more from time to time if I ever have any tips / ideas.

Till then, be safe..
